We’re full timers! It’s official. We moved into our RV on Monday, June 1, 2020.
The past 5 weeks have been a whirlwind. With a pandemic swirling around us we decided to take a chance and list our home of 23 years, figuring it would take weeks, maybe even months to sell. Instead, to our immense surprise, we had a signed contract in one day. The kicker was we only had 4-5 weeks to move. Determination and a lot of hard work paid off and we are now all moved in to our gorgeous, beautifully renovated RV. We’re full timers! It’s official. We moved into our RV on Monday, June 1, 2020.
On Monday we pretty much just threw everything wherever we could find just to get it on board. After our closing we drove to a nearby RV Park to settle in for a couple of weeks. But we could not even think about dinner or bed until we had cleared a place to eat take-out and moved the mountain of stuff that was on the bed. So we crammed all of that stuff into every compartment we could find. And I do mean crammed.
From Tuesday until yesterday we spent the time reorganizing. It is really amazing how much more fits when it is organized and put away properly. We still have some things to do before we take to the open road. We need to have our TVs, Blue Ray DVD players, satellite, Bluetooth radio installed properly.
And we really NEED to have a household fridge installed. The one in the RV now is only 10 cubic feet. This means that there is no room for very much food. A whole frozen pork tenderloin flew out of the freezer and onto the top of my foot when I opened the freezer door to get something. OUCH!!! But compared to the fridge the freezer is huge. The shelves of the refrigerator are only about 6 inches deep with very little space between the shelves. Fortunately there happens to be a mobile RV tech/mechanic here at the park, so we will have help with all of the last details.
The last important item that we have to deal with is internet. Luckily I have cellular on my iPad so I can post this. But it does require me to limit the pictures I upload. We really want to share how beautiful the RV turned out with a big reveal, it’s just going to have to wait until we get somewhere with WiFi. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day so I have to be patient. However those who know me know that patience is not my strong suit. Daddy didn’t dub me “the original I can’t wait girl” for no reason.
Congratulations Sandy. Big job and scary at the same time I’m sure. On our boat, my wife, MaryJo was doing a blog on our travels and was using a hotspot on our phones to post. She would always post lots of full sized photos and our Verizon bill way always huge because of this. http://joeandmaryjo.blogspot.com/ is our travelogue.
Have fun and keep posting your adventures.
Thanks Joe! We are really enjoying living in the RV. We tried the hot spot and couldn’t connect to the internet. Fortunately I have cellular service on my iPad so I was able to post. We plan on getting the 1K megahertz hot spot from Sprint that plugs in and works great according to our son. He uses it on his RV. But we are waiting to get it through Family Motor Coach of America because that offer it at a huge discount. Problem is that it’s back ordered. There will always be things that challenge us. Figure them out is part of the fun!
Congratulations to you both! It seems since Steve was at our house working, your lives have really changed. Best wishes and happy travels!
Thanks so much for the good wishes Donna! I guess that makes you our lucky charm. We hope you and your family stay safe and healthy.
