Taco Mundo North Myrtle Beach is a wonderful Mexican restaurant at Barefoot Landing. The full name is a mouthful (no pun intended)! It’s officially called Taco Mundo Kitchen Y Cantina. This is a place where the menu is extensive and the drinks are plentiful.
When Steve and I camp with Brian and Eve we rarely eat out. Brian, Eve and I love to cook and the meals we prepare together are usually better than most restaurants. But it was a Sunday night and the kids had left that morning to go back to North Carolina. I was a little bit sad because Eve had stayed for the entire week and then suddenly it felt like we were empty nesters again. So to cheer me up Steve said “Why don’t we go out for dinner?” And I jumped at the chance.
Some people that we chatted with at the pool at Barefoot RV Resort had mentioned that Taco Mundo was really good. We figured we should give it a try and it was a perfect choice. It was a balmy July evening and we chose to dine outside under the stars. The dining deck area runs along a river and looks out to the condos on the opposite bank. The setting was gorgeous and the decor of the rustic establishment made us feel like we had taken a trip to Mexico. The casual atmosphere was exactly what you would want in a beach town restaurant.
We ordered a couple of Coronas to sip with our complimentary salsa and chips while we perused the colorful menu. The only real decision we needed to make was which tacos we wanted to order. With a restaurant named Taco Mundo, what else would you want to order? Don’t get me wrong, they do offer many more items like quesadillas and fajitas, but we were craving TACOS!
Steve was in the mood for shrimp, but also for meat. He chose to order a Firecracker Shrimp Taco filled with tempura shrimp, chipotle crema, carrots and shredded white cabbage, and a Surf and Turf Taco filled with carne asada, grilled shrimp, green chile sauce, crema and pico de gallo.
I opted for the Baja Fish Taco which was piled high with tempura mahi mahi, red cabbage and an ancho chile yogurt sauce, and a Firecracker Shrimp Taco. Both meals came with a nice large portion of Black Beans with Mexican Rice.
We were quite pleased with our choices. With our bellies full of good food, we decided to stroll through some of the cute shops that were still open late in the evening. Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer with a variety of restaurants including Taco Mundo, entertainment and lots of great shopping. The added bonus is that it’s right next door to the Barefoot RV Resort!!!
