About the creator

RetroFuture Coffee was created by Anthony Robinson. As the owner of an entertainment company, Anthony was often up late into the wee hours of the night either editing photos or preparing the music for an event. Just like most of us he turned to coffee drinking to get through the late nights. You and I know that it can be very hard to find a good cup o’ joe when you need it most. And so Anthony found himself forced to drink the flavorless coffee from the big chains.

He finally reached his breaking point and decided to create his own blends and concepts for his coffee. Thus, RetroFuture Coffee was born. It is a brand that is designed to take you back to when life was simpler and more fun. The movies and music from his past inspired him to create products that will touch you with nostalgia while at the same time be absolutely great tasting.

Cool names great coffee

The varied coffee blends have such fun, cool names like Java Wars and LL Cool Brew. But the flavor of the coffee is no nonsense. Just really good tasting coffee.

I was sent a sampler of beans to test drive because my coffee maker grinds the beans fresh for me. Each 2-ounce bag of Back to the Coffee, Java Wars, Hey Joe and LL Cool Brew, made a delicious four cups of coffee.

Back to the Coffee

Back to the Coffee

Dark rich Back to the Coffee

My favorite was the “Great Scott Marty, we have to go Back to the Coffee”. The name of this blend makes reference to Doc and Marty using the DeLorean to go to a time when coffee was delicious and this blend of Arabica Kenyan Coffee Beans is what they brought back! Back to the Coffee beans are grown on the mountainsides of Kenya and create a coffee with rich flavor that is vibrant yet clean and crisp. The dark roasting of the bean gives it a charred but potent sweetness with character. I have always been a fan of Starbucks French Roast and Back to the Coffee tasted even better!

Java Wars

Java Wars

And if you are a fan of flavored coffees Java Wars hits all the right notes. This is a full bodied fusion gourmet coffee that is filled with a unique mixture of caramel and vanilla liquor. This “Jamaican Me Crazy” blend produces a mild and smooth flavor with low acidity. But Java Wars packs a punch of bold aroma that will have your taste buds jammin’ like they are in Jamaica mon. It tastes like dessert in a cup. Better yet, make it a great big mug full.

Hey Joe Coffee

Hey Joe

If you are looking for a real American blend then Hey Joe is for you. With hints of Bourbon and pecans you will be transported to New Orleans at midnight. This coffee tastes like a shot of bourbon, a handful of pecans and coffee all rolled into one. The taste will dance on your tongue as soulful Rhythm and Blues plays in the background.

LL Cool Brew

LL Cool Brew

Which brings me to the last of the samples I received, but certainly not least. LL Cool Brew is for those of us who can’t live without our coffee. I know that I do not function well until I have had my giant mugful of dark unadulterated java. I always joke that I like my coffee dark and strong. Just like the way I like my man. I can’t give you a better description than the one on RetroFuture Coffee’s site. “Ice cold flow. Smooth lyrics. This coffee is just like that Queens rapper. LL COOL BREW is grown in the nutrient-rich, volcanic ash of the Tarrazu region in Costa Rica, giving it a bold, refreshing and smooth taste. One of the greatest of all time.”

I look forward to many more tastes of this Philadelphia company’s coffee. They offer samplers just like I received. And you can also subscribe to one of their coffee subscription programs.
