My New Henckels Paring and Utility Knives

My new Henckels Paring and Utility Knives are a thing of beauty! I’m so excited that two of my gifts for our 55th wedding anniversary was a brand new, white handled paring knife and utility knife.

I know. I’m weird. I get excited about kitchen tools. I even have my own tool chest! Of course that tool chest is now an art piece as it is completely covered in a mosaic of magnets from every place we have visited. And I just LOVE filling it with new treasures!

My New Henckels Paring and Utility Knives

As a chef, I’m always looking for the next best knife. I have amassed quite a collection over the years. I’m not really a fan of “knife sets” because they always include a few knives that are really superfluous. I much prefer to choose the best knife for each of the tasks I perform to create restaurant worthy meals at home.

For quite a while know, I’ve known that I needed a new paring knife and utility knife. The utility knife that I was using was quite old and not fabulous. It was a relatively inexpensive Rachel Ray knife. I couldn’t even slice a tomato with it.

My paring knife was a rather pricey Global paring knife. But sadly, when it was practically brand new, it met with a horrible fate. Vibrations from the garbage disposal sent it into the drain. I was able to manage to make it usable, using my whetstone, though it was never as good at paring as it should have been. So sad.

What I have noticed about these new knifes is that they definitely seem to stay sharp longer. They also feel comfortable in my hand because they’re well balanced. I also like that, unlike my Global paring knife, the blade is stain and rust free.
