We were staying at beautiful Vines RV Resort in Paso Robles, California and decided to go to Morro Bay for the day.

Our first welcoming glimpse of Morro Rock at Morro Bay California
We had heard quite a bit about how stunning the beach was there and thought it would be a great idea to check it out for ourselves. We love beach towns and this one was no exception.

Morro Bay California
There was no mistaking that we had arrived at the right spot. The enormous rock formation, known as Morro Rock, that welcomes you is the town’s namesake. It’s often referred to as the Gibraltar of the Pacific. It’s picturesque and has the feel of a tiny fishing village.

Up close and personal with Morro Rock
There’s plenty to do in Morro Bay, especially if you enjoy exploring the outdoors. Do you love looking for wildlife and birds, and want to savor great food and wine? Morro Bay is one of the cutest and most charming places you can visit on California’s beautiful Central Coast.

Adorable squirrels posing for us!
There’s even a spot where you can park right by the rock and walk right up to it. Which is just what we did. It was so much fun to watch all of the seagulls diving for lunch. I wondered which one was a descendent of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. And the squirrels were fearless, friendly and adorable.

Surf’s up!
And in true Cali style, there were surfers taking on the gnarly waves of the Pacific Ocean.

We had such a good time exploring this quaint little village. But we were hungry and seeing all of the fish markets in town made us even hungrier. We were told by a fellow RVer that House of JuJu was a great place for lunch. So after a bit of sightseeing we strolled on over to the restaurant.

The view from our table at House of JuJu
Steve and I were lucky to be able to snag a table for two right by the window that looked out onto Morro Bay. The setting for lunch could not have been more picturesque! But it was the food that really stole the show.

The Wedge Salad from House of JuJu
The Wedge Salad was really half of a huge, crisp, icy cold head of iceberg lettuce that was generously anointed with luscious blue cheese crumbles and dressing. And let’s not ignore the abundance of crispy Applewood smoked bacon and juicy tomato. It was so good that I could have eaten a whole one all by myself and call it a day. But then I would have missed out on the fabulous JuJu Bleu!

JuJu Bleu Burger from House of JuJu in Morro Bay California
The JuJu Bleu burger was really a perfect pairing with the Wedge. The all beef burger was juicy and delicious. What put it over the top was that the large beefy patty was wearing a blanket of creamy blue cheese, sweet caramelized onion and crispy Applewood smoked bacon; all between two halves of a grilled brioche bun. Our choice of sides with the burger was JuJu roasted potatoes, which were delicious with Kalamata olive dipping sauce.

We loved seeing all of the fishing boats at the marina at Morro Bay!
We were so stuffed from lunch that we still were not hungry at dinner time. We had popcorn for dinner!
As a current resident of Morro Bay now 11 years, it’s my pleasure to enjoy these delectable treasures, every single day! I’ve been coming here since the early 70’s from Los Angeles! And knew that this is where I would evevtually retire and live out my LIFE!❤❤❤❤
LUCKY ME!
LUCKY YOU indeed!!! I hope you are not effected by the fires. Stay safe.
Come to The Art in the Park this Labor Day, 3 day show, Sat, Sunday and Monday! Great show!
I know this was meant for James Dilts, and I sure hope he see it! I know if we were still nearby, we’d be at Art in the Park on Labor Day!!! Sounds like a perfect setting for an Art Show.
