After one year of traveling to the Pacific Coast and back we had finally returned to South Florida for a visit. Our first meal as tourists in Florida began with dinner at Lucky Fish Restaurant Pompano Beach FL.

Our main focus for our first week back in SoFla was to spend as much time as possible with a whole bunch of dear friends at The Pointe condominium in Pompano Beach. Most important for us was to have an entire week with our friend Jackie. So we asked Jackie to make the arrangements for each day so that we could see all of our mutual friends. But the first night was reserved for just the three of us.

After wine, nibbles, intense conversation and a year’s worth of hugs and kisses at her condo, we headed to Lucky Fish Beach Bar and Grill for dinner under the stars.

Pompano Beach Fishing Village

Before we left Florida last year, we knew that the area by Pompano Pier was being developed as a dining and entertainment destination. When we got there we could not believe the fabulous transformation. Lucky Fish is just one part of the Pompano Beach Fishing Village. You will also find the Beach House, Oceanic restaurant (sister restaurant to Lucky Fish), BurgerFi, Kilwin’s, Cannoli Kitchen and Alvin’s Island beach goods store.

Islands vibe

During Covid 19 Lucky Fish is observing social distancing. But there’s still plenty of seating for beach side dining!

The centerpiece of Lucky Fish is the open air, come as you are beach bar. Yup. You can just walk from the beach right up to the bar. It’s like being transported to the Keys or the Islands without the long drive or airfare.

Menu at Lucky Fish

Lucky Fish Restaurant Pompano Beach FL features an oyster bar along with an awesome tropical menu that includes sharing plates, salads, handhelds and desserts. And your bar orders can include all sorts of delicious concoctions from smoothies to draft beers to traditional tropical cocktails like rum runners, pina coladas and margaritas.

Slice of Paradise

The location of Lucky Fish is a slice of paradise! Picture sitting in a grove of tall coconut palms with an unobstructed view of the beach and ocean. While enjoying drinks and/or a meal you are listening to music and feeling the cool ocean breezes.

Our meal

Our fabulous Fried Calamari Caesar Salad at Lucky Fish Restaurant Pompano Beach FL

Everything on the menu sounded so good that, at first, it was hard to decide what to order. But Jackie mentioned that their Caesar Salad was quite good. And that triggered a memory of a Caesar Salad the she and I used to always order at a long gone restaurant in Boca Raton. With that in mind the three of us instantly knew what we wanted. We ordered three Caesar Salads and two orders of the Beer Battered Crispy Calamari! OMG!!! Dinner was sooooooo delicious that we ended up going back again a week later for the very same thing.

A short walk on a long pier

After dinner we took a stroll to the end of the fishing pier and watched the fisherman pulling in their catch.
