The La Quinta Art Celebration California had been ranked as the #1 Fine Arts and Craft Events in the Nation by Greg Lawler’s Art Fair SourceBook “Elite 10” Fine Arts Events 2022. So Steve and I were thrilled to be attending with my cousin Gail and her husband Frank.
As I have told you, the four of us share many interests, and a love of art is right near the top of that list! It had been so long since we had an opportunity to attend an art show because of the pandemic that we were chomping at the bit to get to the show. Our drive time seemed to fly by because we were all so busy chatting that before we knew it, we had arrived.
The setting could not have been more beautiful and the weather was a perfect California day. The sun was shining, the temperature was 74º F and, unlike Florida, the humidity was quite low. As we meandered through the maze of over 200 artist booths we kept remarking just how perfect the entire scenario was. Rolling green lawn, beautiful landscaping, lakes with fountains and the San Rosa Mountains as the backdrop made the location as wonderful as the art.
In addition to the world class art from top notch artists whose work encompassed 11 categories of art, there was delicious local food to nosh on, plenty of beverages to quench your thirst and amazing live entertainment to round out the event. This was one of the very best art shows that I’ve ever attended. If you are in the area I highly recommend that you attend the fall encore of this event from November 10 through 13, 2022.
We all found our favorite pieces and even bought some affordable art. But the best part was sharing the day with family!
After spending hours perusing the art at La Quinta Art Celebration California, we headed to Frank’s car for our ride back to Redlands and dinner. Frank suggested that we take the scenic route back since we weren’t in any hurry. Steve and I were so happy for his offer. The drive through the mountains was spectacular!!! We even got to catch the sunset which brought out the purple in those majestic mountains.
Earlier in the week, Gail and I spent the day together. We tried to have Thai for dinner, but each place we went to was closed or sketchy. Craving Thai food, we headed first to the Thai restaurant right near our RV park. Unfortunately there was over an hour wait for a table. In fact, we couldn’t even find a parking spot. So we quickly made a decision to go for burgers.
Eureka Burger was the spot! We were seated almost immediately, which was great because by this point we were starving. It was burgers all around for dinner. And they were all delish. But, of course, I liked mine best.
I ordered the Bison Burger with spicy charred Fresno chile, bacon infused jalapeño jam, smoked mozzarella and whiskey caramelized onions on a brioche bun. All of their beef burgers are made with Santa Carota carrot fed Angus beef. Not sure about the bison. But even though bison is leaner than beef, my burger was cooked perfectly and remained quite juicy. The sweet, buttery brioche bun rounded out the flavors and held everything in place beautifully. Yet still there were runaway juices dripping down my chin. Yum. And double yum for the accompanying sweet potato fries.
It was a perfect ending to a fabulous day. Sadly we were leaving the next morning for our next destination. After a round of teary goodbyes, hugs and kisses, we said goodbye. But delighted in the fact that we can return again next winter!!!
