If you are like us you have certain places you must eat at every time you visit an area. Jo Jo’s Pizza Galloway, New Jersey is one of those places for us. We just can’t travel to Atlantic City without making the short drive to Jo Jo’s Pizza for their fabulous hand-tossed, New York style, thin crust pizza.
Jo Jo’s Pizza Galloway New Jersey
It’s the kind of cheesy pizza goodness that alludes us in South Florida. Sure we can get good pizza down there, but not great pizza. To give you a little background – the Jo Jo’s name originated from a relative “Joe” who had restaurants in Pennsylvania. Way back in 1970 he relocated to Atlantic City to open a Jo Jo’s Pizza on the boardwalk with one of his cousins and the rest is history. The Jo Jo’s family was responsible for introducing hand-tossed New York style pizza, calzones, and stromboli to the area. Also added the menu were homemade meatballs, pasta dishes, and alla parmigiana dishes from their Sicilian heritage.
Relatives opened more locations including the one we always go to in Galloway, New Jersey. Husband and wife team Ed and Bambi opened their Jo Jo’s Pizza and Restaurant in 1993 and it has been family owned and operated ever since. As they say on their website “Our cuisine offers the ‘old fashioned’ favorites that you can always count on.” And count on that we do! Honestly, we have never tasted anything else on the menu.
When Steve, Eve, Brian and I go to Jo Jo’s Pizza for lunch we know we will be bringing leftovers back to our condo because we always order two large pizzas. This time Brian and Eve had one that was half cheese and half pepperoni. We ordered one with sausage generously sprinkled all over that glorious cheese.
And as I am writing this I have an intense craving for an ooey, gooey, cheesy slice! Can you blame me? G-d willing we will be back there late summer.
What about the Whitehouse for cheesesteaks? Is that still around? Have you come across any places that serve stork?
White House is our first stop before even checking in at our timeshare! And I always order a Pepper Cheesesteak with sauce and fried onions. It is all delicious but the bread is what really makes it different from anywhere else. So now you have done it. I’m jonesin’ for one so bad and we’re not going back until the end of August.
As for the stork – I heard it tastes like Pelican, alligator and penguin. Is that true? (I don’t expect most of my readers to understand. It’s a thing between Preston and me!)
