Steve and I love discovering new places to dine where ever we travel. But finding a great place right in your backyard is truly a bonus. And that place is Harvest Seasonal Grill in Delray Beach Florida!
It’s really so funny the way we came to learn about Harvest Seasonal Grill Delray Beach Florida. I discovered it when I connected with Harvest’s Executive Chef William Ring on Linkedin. And since he was local, I wanted to meet him and taste his food so I could spread the word (Of course, the food had to be good or I wouldn’t write about it!!) Bill was happy to arrange for us to be hosted so we went there the last Saturday in April. The food, service and ambience were all amazing. And now we can’t wait to go back!
Healthy indulgence is the basis for the creative menu at Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar in Delray Beach, Florida. This location is the seventh of nine in a growing restaurant group that was born of a desire to create a dining experience that focused on sustainable, health-conscious, and locally-sourced cuisine. Harvest’s CEO Dr. Dave Magrogan, who is a former chiropractor with training in nutritional health, saw a need for a high quality, farm-fresh, seasonally-changing menu that offered a range of dining options not typically found in traditional farm-to-table establishments. Dr. Magrogan believes that the quality of ingredients and quantity of options are not mutually exclusive, and the combination of those philosophies is what sets Harvest apart from other concepts.
The philosophy is that where your food comes from is as important as what you eat, which is why we champion the philosophy of “know your farmer, know your food.” They even list the local farmers on their menus. They work closely with 75 local farmers to source the freshest and highest quality ingredients possible. While other restaurants have only recently begun to embrace organic menu additions, Harvest was built from the ground up with a no compromise attitude towards using local, all-natural ingredients in all of their offerings.
Something else that sets Harvest apart is that the use of sustainable, organic and healthy ingredients doesn’t stop with the menu. From organic cleaning products to recycled glass counter tops and post consumer fiber menus, they utilize green practices daily in every location. Harvest Seasonal Grill in Delray Beach Florida is truly a green concept.
And the best part is, not only is the food good for you, but it tastes creative and amazing! We started off our meal with the soup of the day which was a creamy, dreamy, and slightly sweet Corn and Crab Chowder which turned out to be a perfect pairing with the yummy, salty Smoked Salmon, Dill Crema, Caper, Micro-Arugula and Pickled Red Onion Flatbread. The crust on the flatbread resembled matzo only thinner and much tastier.
It’s been rare lately, but we decided to each have an entrée instead of our usual all-appetizer menu. Steve had one of the specials because our server made it sound so good. And it was! The Short Rib Ragu with housemade Tagliatelle was rich and soooo flavorful. The short ribs melted in your mouth. And the ribbons of pasta were silky and perfectly al dente. I also chose a beef dish, but for me it was the Grilled Grass-Fed Filet Mignon topped with crumbles of Sheep’s milk feta which was served with slices of roasted baby potato, broccolini, roasted red pepper purée and salsa verde. I usually prefer Rib Eye or Sirloin but Steve said he wouldn’t share if I ordered the Grilled Wagyu Sirloin Steak and I was not disappointed with my selection. Even though I only got two forkfuls of his pasta. The filet was like butter and the feta really amped the flavor of the steak, which was perfectly cooked by the way. As were the veggies. And I thought the use of the salsa verde and the roasted pepper purée offered flavor and gorgeous color to the dish.
And after our empty plates were cleared…tada…a fabulous array of desserts appeared before us. Lemon, chocolate, vanilla, dark chocolate, peanut butter, coffee. Cute cocktail glasses filled with a cake crumb bottom, flavored mousses and garnishes. Hard to choose but we managed to select a Peanut Butter Mousse with Bittersweet Chocolate Chips and a Dark Chocolate Mousse. Rich. Not too sweet. Indulgent. Very satisfying. And just like that we have a new favorite restaurant!
