It was our last day with our friends Sandee and Mack. We wanted to make the most of it, beginning with lunch. So we stopped at the RV Park office for a recommendation. Roxanne, the park manager, immediately sang out: Get Around Brown is the best BBQ in the town Midland TX!
She then proceeded to give Steve and Mack each a voucher for 1 free “Feel Good Meat Plate”. We thought we’d won the lottery. Who says there’s not such thing as a free lunch? So off we went to see just how good this BBQ would be. Would Get Around Brown BBQ in Midland TX, really be the best BBQ in town?
As soon as we pulled up to the restaurant we could smell the wonderful aroma of smoke wafting through the air. We all had the same thought; if the air smelled that good, the BBQ would be really, really good.
And, you know what? It absolutely was!
All of our food was so yummy. Mack and I, each the Plate Lunch which comes with your choice of any meat. Ours consisted of Smoked Brisket with BBQ Sauce on Toast, Potato Salad, Pickles and Baked Beans. It was the best brisket I have had, in all of Texas. The sauce was sweet and tangy with the merest hint of spice. And the meat was meltingly tender.
Steve ordered the Bacon and Egg Breakfast Burrito. It was so fabulous that we decided to order some to take on the road with us.
Sandee opted for the Ribs to which she added Mac ‘n Queso, Potato Salad and lots of extra BBQ sauce. Those ribs were so flavorful, with meat so tender if fell right off the bone.
All of felt it would be worth coming back to Midland just so we could enjoy more of Get Around Brown’s delectable BBQ!!!
But the food wasn’t the best part. It was Mr. Brown that stole the show. His smile and genuine love for what he does, could win over any skeptics. He is a born showman and a very talented chef.
Pitmaster Todd Brown, aka Mr. Brown, and his lovely wife, you got it…Mrs. Brown, own and operate an impeccable establishment. Together they serve the most delicious BBQ in their restaurant and food truck. In addition to that, they bring that amazing BBQ to catered events in the local area.
After we ate our lunch, Mr. Brown graciously and proudly, showed us his smokers with brisket and ribs glorious smoking, low and slow. As Mr. Brown lovingly tended to the meat, checking temperatures and slathering with BBQ sauce the scent in the air intensified. I wanted some of that sauce!
We went back inside to order burritos to go for the next day, which was a travel day for all of us. When Mr. Brown handed me our order, he handed me a bottle of his BBQ sauce as a gift. He had to have read my mind.
All I can say is, if you’re ever anywhere near Midland TX, be sure to stop at Get Around Brown BBQ for a meal. Say “Hi” to Mr. and Mrs. Brown for us!
