Steve and I had not been to this gambling mecca since the mid 80s. So the Fremont Street Experience Las Vegas NV was an awesome introduction to the new Fremont Street!

Driving to Las Vegas Nevada from California through the Mojave Desert.
We arrived in Las Vegas in the late afternoon and couldn’t wait to see what had changed on the strip since our last visit decades ago. With no particular agenda we got in our Jeep and drove the short distance from our RV park to the iconic Las Vegas strip.
The Vegas Strip at night

Vegas by night. Felt like I we were in New York complete with the Empire State Building and Lady Liberty!

The glitz of Circus Circus
Wowed by the glitz and glamour of millions of neon lights we drove up and back a couple of times just to take it all in. Honestly it is a bit overwhelming and very hard to photograph. Our little night tour felt like a trip around the world. France, Italy and the good ole USA were well represented. The myriad of casino hotels showed off their properties like male peacocks who spread their tail feathers to reveal stunningly glorious colors.
Driving through the Mojave Desert

Even in the desert there are casinos on the way to Vegas.

Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino somewhere in Nevada
Tired from our long drive through the Mojave desert from Redlands, California, we headed back to Ladybug for dinner and to plan our week in Nevada. I had printed a list of free things to do in the area from an article that Travel and Leisure had sent and we wanted to see just how many we could tick off the list.

At this place it pays to be HUGE! If you weigh in at 350 pounds or more, your meal is free. The servers are dressed as doctors and nurses.
We started with the Fremont Street Experience Las Vegas NV. When we visited the area so many years ago, Fremont Street was just a street in old, downtown Vegas. Oh boy was it different in 2021. Today it is know as the Fremont Street Experience. And what an experience it is. It is a five block entertainment district in historic downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.
Viva Vision

Vibrant colors projected on the world’s largest video screen.

The music from Star Wars was playing as the Viva Vision screen mesmerized us.

Hard to tell what is video and what is real!
The centerpiece of Fremont Street Experience is Viva Vision, which is the world’s largest video screen. The Viva Vision screen is 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide and is suspended 90 feet above the pedestrian mall below. The screen has 49.3 million LED lights and a 600,000-watt sound system. Viva Vision features free light shows, free, every night of the week.
Casinos galore

Sign looks amazing at night!
Our first visit was during daylight hours and gave us a little taste of the true experience. So we decided to return a couple of nights later to get the full impact of the Fremont Street Experience Las Vegas NV and all it had to offer.

Four Queens Casino is also part of the Fremont Street Experience Las Vegas NV
Under normal circumstances, Fremont Street Experience also has an extensive schedule of live concerts and entertainment on three stages. But since we were there during the pandemic there was no live music. By now it most likely has returned.

That iconic cowboy still welcomes you to Fremont Street

Another Fremont Street entrance
With pedestrian access to eight member casinos, more than 60 restaurants and specialty retail kiosks, Fremont Street Experience attracts more than 24 million annual visitors. And we were 2 of those millions. While there we did take advantage of a little of the shopping experience. We bought a magnet to add to our collection. And I bought a bedazzled mask to protect myself in style during this awful Covid-19 pandemic.
SlotZilla

SlotZilla!!!
In addition to all of the already spectacular attractions at Fremont Street Experience Las Vegas NV, the SlotZilla zip line features the 850-foot “Zipline” and 1,750-foot “Zoomline.” Guests take off from a 12-story slot machine-themed tower and fly under the Viva Vision canopy. Watching people soar overhead was almost as much fun as being up there. While we were there at night there was a Star Wars theme playing on the Viva Vision and it looked like the people on the SlotZilla zip line were part of the show!!!
Downtown Container Park

Entrance to the Downtown Container Park

Container Park entrance is enhanced by this beautiful heart made from found objects.

The Container Park itself is a work of art.
From the Fremont Street Experience we walked up the street a bit to the Downtown Container Park. Here shipping containers have been converted into a shopping complex. This shopping center has lots of shopping, dining, entertainment and more. Most of these options are housed in these adapted shipping containers and offer a modern approach to recycling containers that would otherwise just be trash. The Downtown Container Park was a wonderful place to stroll and shop with a very artistic vibe.

A modern take on a shopping center is beautiful and good for the environment

Hard to imagine that shipping containers could be converted to create such a beautiful environment.
Hopefully, when we return next year, Covid will be an all but forgotten nightmare, and all of the venues will be available for us to experience
