It is a very heavy heart that Steve and I say Farewell Sweet Prince Hershi.
Farewell Sweet Prince Hershi
We got our Yorkie when he was 10 weeks old and weighed in at a whopping 3-pounds. He filled our hearts with joy from the second we met him at Yorkie Be Mine in Jupiter Farms Florida. I can picture Steve lying on the breeder’s white carpet with that cute ball of fluff. It was love at first site for the 3 of us and that love affair lasted for 16 years!
We pondered over a good name for him. Brilliantly Steve came up with a fabulous acronym to honor our late parents and grandparents. Hershi’s full name was Herman Evelyn Rose Sam Helen Izzy!!! He had really big shoes to fill and filled them so perfectly.
Hershi loved everyone he met and everyone loved him. He loved to strut his stuff at marinas, campgrounds and Jackson Square New Orleans. He took to living in the RV like his was born to it. No matter what campground we were walking him in, Hershi knew exactly where our RV was parked and led us right to it. And to show you just how smart he was…he scratched at the bathroom door to let us know he wanted to go out.
He loved it so much that he even wanted to drive, but his little feet couldn’t reach the pedals.
We will miss him more than words could possibly express. Farewell Sweet Prince Hershi!!!
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
