What a thrill to realize that, when we got to San Diego, we had officially driven coast to coast. We did it! Yay us!!!
Climbed to the top of Kill Devil Hill to see where the Wright Brothers took their first flight in Kitty Hawk!
It has been the most amazing ride of our lives. It all began on June 1, when we sold our home and moved into the RV. This adventure has been a dream of our since 2006. It took a lot of planning, research and hard work to make it happen.
We bought Ladybug the day after Christmas 2019 in Franklin NC. We really got to know her with a week’s trip back home to Florida. Right off the bat Steve started working on the renovations. Covid hit. And that began to mess with our time frame. But we refused to let it stop us.
At the end of April we finally put our home on the market and it sold it one day. We had a month to sell off everything that we couldn’t possibly take with us. Somehow we somehow managed to pull that off too.
Due to Covid-19 we had our closing online! Then put the last of our household aboard Ladybug while sitting in our driveway. From there we took the first step and spent about 3 weeks at our first RV park. And then the journey began!
Steve and I would love for you to see highlights from our first 6 months of being full time RVers. There are A LOT of pictures so I am going to let them speak for themselves and shut up now.
After a night in Sonora, we stayed a few days in Ft. Stockton TX. We took day trips to places like Big Bend National Park and Marfa.
Our first views of the magnificent mountains at Big Bend
We devoured our fabulously delicious burgers, fries and onion rings at Bad Rabbit in Terlingua just outside of Big Bend.
Seeing the art installation Prada Store in Marfa TX was soooooo cool!!! It is literally in the middle of nowhere.
Aliens everywhere in Roswell, New Mexico
Next stop – Albuquerque NM
Lunch at the Plaza Café in Santa Fe NM.
Stopped in Cerrillos along the Turquoise Trail back to Albuquerque.
Our first snow!!!
Our RV park in Tucson AZ had a gorgeous pool, but it was way to chilly for us Floridians.
The Traveling Locavores ate their very first Sonoran Dog at BK’s in Tucson!
Got another stamp in our National Parks Passport when we visited Saguaro National Park in Tucson AZ
Steve and I had a friendly encounter with a Coyote on our way back to our car after spending the day meandering through the gardens of the Sonoran Desert Museum.
We celebrated our first Hanukah aboard Ladybug.
We turned back the clock with a visit to Tombstone and the O.K. Corral
It truly has been so much better than we even dreamed!!! We will definitely get together. We will try to get a group together to go to lunch while we are there. I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks so much Joe! Great memories indeed. We actually should be visiting Minnesota next summer. It would be so awesome to actually meet. Where in Minnesota do you live?
We very occasionally send out information on specials or news we think you’ll be very interested to hear! Don’t miss out.
