While enjoying visiting with friends who are more like family to us, we had a delightful and delicious dinner at China Sea of Absecon NJ.

Hot and Sour Soup
Honestly, Steve and I rarely eat Chinese food. We used to go out for Chinese all the time. But that changed when we visited Vancouver and tasted authentic Chinese food. It spoiled us because it was so fresh and delectable. After that dining experience we found that our local Chinese restaurants really fell short on delivering the fresh flavors we loved in Vancouver.
We loved other Asian cuisines, especially Thai, Vietnamese and Korean. But after many years of not eating at a Chinese restaurant, we were actually craving it. So when my “sister” Sheri suggested that we go to China Sea of Absecon, we were happy and eager to go.
China Sea of Absecon NJ is a family owned and operated restaurant. They’ve bee serving the Jersey shore since 1995. At China Sea they specialize in Mandarin-Szechuan style cuisine. But what we like most was that all of their dishes are made with fresh, authentic ingredients. And you could taste that!
One of the first things I noticed was that we had a large lazy susan in the middle of our table. That was part of why we loved the restaurant in Vancouver so much.
Asian food is made for sharing. Those lazy susans make it so easy to pass food back and forth between the friends you are sharing a meal with.
We all remarked at how bright and clean the entire restaurant was. It was a welcoming space with lovely Asian decor and comfortable seating. And we were all hungry and ready to eat.

Hot and Sour Soup
Steve and I both ordered the sweet and spicy Hot and Sour Soup. If I remember correctly (this happened in September and I’m writing this in March) everyone else had Egg Drop Soup with Wontons added. All of the soup was served piping hot, just as it should be. Our soup was so warming and filling. It was so loaded with flavor that we couldn’t stop until the last drop was gone. Once the soup came the gabbing ceased and you heard was slurping and Mmmmm Mmmmm good. Way better than Campbell’s!

Crisp and delicious Egg Rolls
Following up the soup, were crisp and savory Egg Rolls with lots of Duck Sauce that Steve and I like to kick up a notch with some hot mustard.

BBQ Spareribs and Chicken Fried Rice
Four our entrée we shared Chicken Fried Rice and BBQ Spare Ribs. Steve and I like heat, so we added some hot mustard and a little of the sweet Duck Sauce to the rice, to give it that oomph that we love. The ribs were quite meaty and came off the bone easily. The entire meal was delicious, but half way through our main courses we realized we were stuffed. So doggy bags all around.
Steve and I had enough rice and ribs for dinner the next night. All I did was air fry a couple of Pork Egg Rolls from Aldi and we had plenty of food. One thing I have always loved about Chinese food is that it reheats really well.
