Casa de Fruta Hollister California is a destination RV Resort and like nothing we have ever seen!
Casa de Fruta Hollister California
This is a destination RV Resort and so much more. Casa de Fruta Hollister California is a place that you could go to for vacation and not leave the property. It is no wonder that they are celebrating 110 years. It’s like a planned community. They even have their own gas station.
According to the Casa de Fruta website they planted their first orchards in 1908, opened a roadside cherry stand in the 1940’s, and now welcome over 2 million visitors a year from around the world to their landmark orchard resort!
Our visit was waaaaay back in the middle of January, (I know, I know, I’m way behind in posting!!!) so it was too chilly to use the pool. And it was closed due to Covid anyway, as was the cute train that rode through the property normally. Of course, the restaurants were only open for takeout, as well. You did read that right. There are multiple restaurants.
Casa de Restaurant
Casa de Restaurant is a full service restaurant that, pre-Covid, offered waiter service both inside and on the patio. The first night we were there we ordered takeout Cheeseburgers and Fries from Casa de Restaurant. Our meal was so good that we order the same thing a few days later.
Casa de Wine (and deli)
Casa de Wine offers a selection of luscious wines, free wine tastings and classes on wine appreciation. In the back of the store is their deli with creative sandwiches that would be perfect for a picnic. Along with wines, and deli their are lovely gift items for sale at Casa de Wine.
Casa de Sweets
All the candy you can imagine! Taffy, chocolate covered fruit and nuts, peanut brittle, fudge, caramel apples, and much, much mores available at this candy lover’s paradise. As if that wasn’t enough to live up to it’s name, Casa de Sweets also has flavorful and creamy ice creams and fabulous pastries.
Fruit Stand
Our visit to the Fruit Stand revealed where Casa de Fruta began! There you can select fresh-off-the-farm fruits and vegetables, premium dried fruits and nuts, and unique condiments. The simplicity of an era of old-fashioned goodness is found there. But to my chagrin they did not have any lettuce or potatoes. But they did have some fabulous jams and cheeses, gorgeous fruit and beautiful seasonal vegetables.
Casa de Choo Choo
Casa de Fruta’s Narrow Gauge Railroad, Casa de Choo Choo, is fun for children of all ages. The two-mile long track meanders through the park, passing along scenic Pacheco Creek.
Casa de Sluice
During the California Gold Rush in the mid 1800’s miner’s used the sluice to catch gold that washed from the loosened gravel of the banks. Today at Casa de Fruta you can experience what it was like to pan for gold. Choose from one of their four sluice bag options.
Casa de Carousel
Casa de Carousel is a Double Decker Venetian Carousel handcrafted in Italy, intricately hand-painted and depicts famous Italian landmarks. Fourteen hundred twinkling lights illuminate the carousel, which features classic moving horses, rocking chariots, spinning tubs and swings. Throughout the ride, patrons hear traditional organ music and enjoy the beautiful creekside view at Casa de Fruta. The Carousel was built in 1987.
Children’s Playground
Children will love the playground area, which includes a duck pond, play train engine and caboose.
Casa de Fruta Inn
In addition to a huge RV park, Casa de Fruta has an Inn. So even if you don’t have an RV, you could come and enjoy all that this amazing destination has to offer.
We were much further north than our previous location near Santa Clarita, so even though we could have amused ourselves for days without even leaving Casa de Fruta Hollister California we knew there was quite a bit of this part of the state that we wanted to see.
