Although Steve and I have been to Las Vegas a couple of times before, we are just now discovering what a great city it is! That all began with our amazing brunch at Scrambled Henderson NV.
Our first visit to Las Vegas
Our first visit to Las Vegas was way back in 1984 or ’85. Steve was there on business and I flew out to meet him for the weekend. It was a whirlwind getaway filled with limos and star studded shows. We even had a gorgeous suite at the Sahara Hotel right on the strip.
For me, the highlight of the weekend was seeing Diana Ross in concert with front row seats. The best part was that she remembered that we spent a New Year’s Eve together at a party in her suite in Miami Beach back in 1967! She pointed right at me and said “Hey girlfriend, Miami Beach right!”
Changing culinary scene
However, in those days Las Vegas was not known for its food scene. Oh boy, has that ever changed!!! Nowadays pretty much every star chef has at least one restaurant in Sin City, but most with prices to fit their celebrity status.
That translates to – we don’t usually eat out much in Vegas. So discovering great food at a reasonable price makes us very happy.
Meeting friends
For a little back story, Steve has been working in network marketing under someone we have only met online and on the phone. And though we’d never met in person, we have become good friends with Barry and his lovely wife Cindy, who live in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson NV! Our first priority was to get together in person. They wanted to take us to their favorite place for brunch.
Brunch at Scrambled Henderson NV
As soon as we walked through the door at Scrambled we couldn’t help but notice how sunny and cheerful it was. It was the colorful egg yolk yellow that was used in abundance that gave it that gleeful ambiance. We were seated immediately and welcomed warmly.
Team Scramble’s philosophy is clearly stated on their website: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We, here at Scrambled, want to further better that experience by providing high quality meals and a great environment. Nothing puts a bigger smile on our face than watching people enjoy our food. We do not want customers to simply walk in and out. We want to establish good relationships and build an EGGcelent community!”
It was immediately apparent that they take that philosophy very seriously. The service was impeccable, the decor clean and bright and the food was plentiful and top notch. Everything you could possibly want in a restaurant open for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
What we ate
As for what we ate, Steve had the 2 Egg Breakfast with fluffy, savory scrambled eggs with crispy Applewood smoked bacon, perfect breakfast potatoes (home fries) and whole wheat toast.
The first thing I spotted on the menu was the selection of Benedicts. There are several variation on the menu and if you can’t decide, you can even order one of each of your two favorites. But I had absolutely no trouble deciding. I had the scrumptious Smoked Salmon Lox Benny! This incredible dish started with a foundation of a grilled “everything” bagel, that was then layered with cream cheese, sliced tomatoes, two perfectly poached eggs, hollandaise, cold smoke salmon and topped off with thinly sliced red onion and capers. It was the most delicious Benny I’ve ever had.
Now we are looking forward to returning to Las Vegas to explore more of the off the beaten path culinary hidden gems; and to have another Brunch at Scrambled Henderson NV!!!
