Book Launch Party
I have catered many exciting events in my 18 year career as one of South Florida’s largest caterers but not one of them came close to the thrill of my very own book launch party. The event coincided with the release of my first cookbook Affairs to Remember and it was just that, an affair to remember. I prepared 11 recipes from the book for my guests to enjoy. My wonderful and supportive husband, Steve, and I set up a lavish buffet on our patio under a small tent. The buffet was laden with dips and chips, hot and cold hors d’oeuvre, chili with all the fixings and and a show stopper Bittersweet Chocolate Fondue for dessert. Each item was labeled and included the page in my book where the recipe could be found.
Living in South Florida we knew we had to be prepared for rain so to play it safe we set the food up under a 10′ x 10′ tent with two side walls. About 5 minutes after Steve and I set up and draped the tables and put out all of the serving platters the heavens opened up. It poured cats and dogs for about 15 minutes at around 3pm in the afternoon and after that the weather was totally cooperative! We had a balmy evening and a steady flow of over 75 guests who were able to enjoy our nation and not overcrowd the inside of the house. It was perfect.
I felt so loved and blessed that so many friends old and new, and family came to buy a book and have me sign it. Guests told me they never saw such a line up of cars parked outside but I imagine it matched the line inside that I had for my signature. I felt like a celebrity chef. It was so awesome!!!!!
