Bobby, Bobby, Bobby how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. My husband must think I am having an affair with Bobby I talk about him and write about him so much. It’s a good thing Steve trusts me after 42 years of marriage. As you might have already guessed the Bobby I am referring to is Bobby Flay since I write about him so often. But we are not having an affair. We are both happily married to our spouses and have no reason to stray. It is just that the only other chef that has influenced my cooking to such a degree was Julia Child. And although as I told you before Martha Stewart was my guru when I began my catering business it was more for how to present food beautifully that for her recipe guidance. There is just something about Bobby that mesmerizes me. Yes he is very good looking and he seems to have a persona that makes me want to hang out with him but it is really about his food. I think he is a truly brilliant chef. Following his instructions I have become an expert griller using both the gas grill and the charcoal grill. But, though he is best known for grilling, his recipes are far more diverse. I now have all ten of his cookbooks and I’ve prepared a multitude of dishes from all of them. I can state without hesitation that I have never produced better food than I have since his influence. And we are really quite alike in many ways. We both love food with bold flavors. We are both just as aware of how the food will look on the plate not just how it will taste. We both love bright colorful food and serving pieces. I could go on and on but I won’t bore you. But I will tell you that I even walk on the treadmill while watching shows of Bobby’s that I have recorded on my DVR. Whether it’s Throwdown, Grill It!, Boy Meets Grill or Iron Chef America as long as I am watching Bobby the time flies by.
