As we are getting ready to visit Raleigh, NC once again to spend Thanksgiving with our son Brian, his wonderful wife Eve and our Grandpups Zoe and Max I realized just how far behind I am with my posts! I have finally finished updating all of the posts from Food and Fond Memories that now live here at thetravelinglocavores.com. YAY!!! And now I am starting to fill my Shop with merchandise so check back frequently for new items. But now I finally get to tell you about all of our wonderful adventures going way back to April! Let’s start with our fabulous lunch at Beasley’s Chicken + Honey.
Beasley’s Chicken + Honey is another one of Chef Ashley Christensen’s fabulously delicious restaurants. You can read a bit more about the chef here https://www.thetravelinglocavores.com/two-chefs-change-food-in-north-carolina/. Remembering how yummy the food was at her first restaurant Poole’s Diner, Steve and I were anxious to try more of her tasty offerings. So we opted to go to Beasley’s for lunch and did not regret even one flavorful bite. Beasley’s is in downtown Raleigh and definitely attracts a business lunch crowd. It has a very cool vibe and unfussy, factory feel with exposed air ducts and wood floors. Steve ordered the Carolina Reaper Hot Chicken Sandwich on Buttermilk Bread with House Made Pickles, Iceberg Lettuce and Buttermilk Herb Dressing because he isn’t a fan of dealing with bones. And I had the signature Chicken and Waffles with Hot Honey. Everything about the chicken was perfection. It was juicy and perfectly cooked. And that coating was uber crunchy and very well seasoned. Both of our lunches really delivered on flavor and texture. But I think my chicken and waffles was far more decadent, I have had chicken and waffles in other restaurants and from food trucks but none could compare to what I ate at Beasley’s! We might just have to go there for lunch next week. Luckily we can!!!
