Barefoot RV Resort North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a small hidden gem of a park!
When we approached the RV Resort just off of Highway 17 we had no idea how fabulous it would be. You know the saying “Location. Location. Location”? Well they must have been talking about Barefoot RV Resort. Not only is the access really easy for an RV to navigate but it is conveniently located to all our favorite shopping haunts. And it’s only a couple of blocks to the beach to boot.
Fabulous amenities
Every site is fully paved and has full hook ups. Along with that you get free wifi, cable TV, a fire pit and splinter free picnic table. And pets are very welcome as well as children of all ages. There is a lovely pool, bath house and laundry. Trash and recyclables are even picked up each morning curbside. In addition, there is lots of grassy area between each site. More than we have seen anywhere else. We inquired to learn a little bit about the parks history and as it turned out the park just opened in February only to be shut down in March by Covid-19!
Family run
This beautiful little park is family owned and operated by the Skidmores. We learned that they had originally planned for it to be all tiny homes and be run like a large Airbandb. But instead they changed it to mixed use with some tiny houses and lots of RV spaces. In fact they are still completing several sites in the resort. On the info packet that we received on check-in it states that “We truly want you to have a worry free, relaxing time at our campground.” And we learned that it is not just lip service.
New friends
Rvers are a friendly bunch because we are always meeting new people. And it was no different here. The family parked in the site across from us were traveling with their adorable little boy Oliver. All Oliver want to do was come over and play with our little Hershi. It was a mutual love affair. Oliver would toddle after Hershi, pet him and kiss him. Hershi just loved all of the attention from someone just his size!
Awesome place to be stuck
After an amazing week there we were going through our procedures to get on the road to our next destination. Steve put the bedroom slide in with no issue. Then he did the front slide which came in 90% of the way and just stopped dead! We were stuck. You can’t drive an RV with a slide out. And not only wouldn’t the slide come in all the way, but neither slide would go back out either.
The living quarters were not so bad, just narrower, but not uncomfortable. You should have seen what I had to go through to get into bed though. When the bedroom slide is in, the end of the bed touches the desk area so you can’t possibly walk around the bed. And Steve’s drawers where he had some of his clothes were behind the slide and almost impossible to get to. I had to sit hunched over on the edge of the bed to use the computer and put makeup on. It was really comically to watch us roll over the bed to get to the other side. But we didn’t really mind so much because we were in such a great location!
Steve found the owner and he gave us the name of a mobile mechanic that he had used before. The mechanic showed us the part that had to be ordered and said he’d be back when the part arrived. It was late on a Thursday and even with expedited shipping the part wouldn’t arrive until Monday. On Tuesday we were all fixed and could have left but we loved being stuck there so much that we decided to stay for the rest of the week. In fact, we loved it so much that we plan on spending an entire month there next summer. And our son and daughter in love booked a site there for three months next summer!!!
If you go to Barefoot RV Resort North Myrtle Beach be sure to tell them that you read about it on our blog. I know you will love it as much as we did.
